Well-prepped exterior paint on a Dallas home lasts 7–10 years on shaded surfaces and 5–7 years on sun-exposed elevations. If your paint is chalking, cracking, or fading unevenly, it's time. Waiting too long turns a repaint into a repair-then-repaint job.
If the cabinet boxes are solid and the layout works, painting is a fantastic value — often one-quarter the cost of replacement with a factory-quality finish. If the boxes are damaged or you're changing the layout, replacement is the right call.
